Production Notes: Script - Descent (Verse 3)

The Deep Ones Script

By David Reichen

Verse 3 - Descent

* The Swim -
"Kiss your old life goodbye, your life begins anew"

The Deep Ones group swims out to open water.

* Dive -
"Dive into the ocean blue. Land no longer has a hold on you."

The Deep Ones dive below the surface and continue to swim deeper.

* Going Deeper -
"Flee the land return to the sea, escape reality's nightmare."
"Far from shore you can be free, come join us down in our lair."

The Deep Ones approach the dark shape of a Giant Squid. They wait for the girl to slip into a pressure suit. The others were already wearing them, which is why they appeared as dark shape when they were on land. Everyone grabs onto the squid; except the kid, he is held in one of the squids tentacles. They then continue their swim to deeper water and toward a circle of light.

* The Lair -
"Luring you down to the sea, the sirens sing so longingly."
"Luring you down to the sea, down with the deep ones you will be"
"Dagon! Is the one that we follow."
"Dagon! Unleash the beast."
"Dagon! Is the one that you follow."
"Dagon! Unleash the beast."

The Deep Ones slowly disappear into the light. The following text blocks are layered on top: {We shall swim out to that brooding reef in the sea}, {and dive down through black abysses}, {to Cyclopean and many columned Y'ha-nthlei}, {and in that lair of the Deep Ones}.

* Forever -
Bridge between verse three and verse four.

As the view rises above the surface, the sun comes over the horizon. The follow text blocks are displayed: {we shall dwell admist wonder and glory FOREVER}, {"Shadow over Innsmouth," by Howard Phillips Lovecraft}

Note:
This is were we find out that the lair of the deep ones was not destroyed and the quoet at the end refers this story back to the ending of Shadow over Innsmouth. Perhaps the guy in the story did find a way to go back for his cousin.

Production Notes: Script - Metamorphosis (Verse 2)

The Deep Ones Script

By David Reichen

Verse 2 - Metamorphosis

* Reaching Grab -
"Reaching out they grab your wrists,"

Two of the shapes that the kid finally notices, grab his outstretched hands by the wrists and wrench them behind is back.

* Trigger -
"Trigger changes held dormant."

A hand slaps the kid on the upper arm. As the hand is removed, a welt is shown.

* Fall -
"No More Humanity! You mind is clear of torment."

The kid goes limp in their embrace. They release him and he falls to the ground, on his back. They then step away from the kid.

* Changes -
"Changes made, glued back again. Strands rip apart and recoil."

A virus enters a cell. As the DNA strands separate, chunks of DNA from the virus are swapped into place and then the two strands recombine with the changed sections included.

* The Pain -
"Feel so lame, in such pain, it's like your blood has come to a boil."

You see the kid's face as he grimaces in pain. His face becomes flush, as if with fever.

* enveloped -
"Luring you down to the sea, the sirens sing so longingly."
"Luring you down to the sea, down with the deep one you will be."

The girl, who has been standing clear of the shapes that were surrounding the kid, steps to the kid, places the globe on the kid chest and steps away. The globe flows over the kid, enveloping him in an ethereal glow.

* Goodbye Land -
"Dagon! Is the one that we follow.""Dagon! Unleash the beast.""Dagon! Is the one that we follow.""Dagon! Unleash the beast."

The shapes bend down, turn the kid over, grab the life pod, which is what the globe is. As the shapes stand, it turns out that the areas grabbed are straps that the shapes use to drag the kid to the water. When they reach the water's edge, the girl joins them and then begins to lead them to deeper water. The kid, not being able to resist, slowly sinks under the surface as the shapes follow the girl.

* To Deeper Water -
Bridge between verse two and verse three.

The party moves further into the water, dragging the kid with them. You can see him in the pod, just under the surface.

Note:
This is where the video diverges from the original story. The Deep Ones now have the ability to patch up the genetic damage that was caused by inbreeding, crossbreeding and such, which lead to the Innsmouth Look. The change is not instantaneous, so they have to use a lifepod to take the kid with them. These details will be brought up in the short story version.

Production Notes: Script - Dream and Reality (Verse 1)

The Deep Ones Script
By David Reichen

Verse One - Dream and Reality

The Dream

* The Dreamer -

As the third refrain of the intro starts, we see the kid is laying down in bed. He slowly closes his eyes and falls asleep.

We are able to gaze into his sleeping mind as he dreams quite literally of the girl of his dreams. We see her, above the waist, begin to gesture for him to come to her.

* The Sheik -
"Shrieking through jagged teeth, the voices call out while you dream."

She opens her mouth to reveal that she has jagged teeth. Her skin color, which starts out as a normal skin tone abruptly changes to a bluish green. Her long black hair, which was framing her face and cascading over her shoulder and down her front, gently billows away from her to revel undulating slits along her throat, as if she is breathing through them.

* Foretelling -
"Foretelling of things to be,"

While in the dream, the kid reaches out, as if to physically push the nightmare vision from his thoughts. His hands and arms are not what he expects them to look like. They look like the hands of a lizard.

* Scream -
"you wake up with a tortured scream."

The kid wakes, sits up in bed, covers his face with his hands and screams.

Reality

* Drawn -
"You feel drawn to a place you've never been before."

The town sign shows that it is Innsmouth. It is night. The kid approaches the ramp that leads down to the shore. It is a very low tide. He moves down the ramp and walks toward the shoreline.

* Look out -
"When you get there you see"

The kid stops and looks out over the water.

* Shapes -
"shapes rising up beyond the shore."

Since it is a very low tide, the kid sees an exposed reef just off shore. Shapes begin to move off of the reef and come toward him. He looks perplexed but not fearful.

* The Approach -
"Luring you down to the sea, the sirens sing so longingly. Luring you down to the sea,"

A glowing globe rises from the water and moves to the shore. As it gets closer, it rises upwards and it is revealed that the globe is being held aloft by the girl. She seems to be gliding across the water to him.

* Landing -
"Down with the deep ones you will be."

She then steps onto the shore.

* Closer -
"Dagon! Is the one that we follow.""Dagon! Unleash the beast.""Dagon! Is the one that we follow.""Dagon! Unleash the beast."

The girl slowly walks to the kid. She is still carrying the glowing globe in her hands.

* Not Alone -
Instrumental bridge between verse one and verse two.

So transfixed is the kid to his approaching beauty that he fails to notice that they are not alone. Shadowy shapes surround them and he is suddenly startled by this realization. He raises his arm out, as if to ward them off.

Note:
To get an idea of what the dream is supposed to look like, you can watch the movie Dagon.

The phrase All of your life and the word can have been deleted from the second half of verse one in order to make it generic instead of a special case and make it a bit tighter.

Production Notes: Script - Intro

The Deep Ones Script

By David Reichen

[ Introduction ]
* Narration -
As waves lap along a shore line, the sound of the surf can be heard. A voice is heard saying the following:

"There are things best left unknown. Had I paid attention to such a statement, I would have been able to live a long and boring life; however, I have been cursed with curiosity. Herein is my tale of what transpired so long ago, which to this day, still fills me with dread at its mere recollection."

* Title Sequence -
The music starts. During the first and second refrains of the intro to the song, the following text blocks are displayed:

"The Deep Ones, By David John Reichen"

"Based on the works of H P Lovecraft"

Note:
There is a change in the naration. The phrase so long ago has replaces that lonely night. It the short story verision, the events described here happen in more than just one night.

Personal Notes: Second Tuesday Week Jan 2005

The second Tuesday of each month is one of the only Tuesday that I am not doing Users Group type things. The first Tuesday is when we have our Novice SIG meetings at my place. On the third Tuesday , we have our main meetings. On the fourth Tueday, it is the Board of Directors meeting at my place.

A rare and special event is the FIFTH Tuesday of the month, which does not happen every month.

So far this week, I have made a general outline of the script and have competed the Intro and first verse. A rought draft of the second verse has been done but still needs to be typed in.

I am in the process of experimenting with sound recording programs.

Production Notes: Pre-Storyboard (spanish translation)

Here is the promised spanish translation of the Pre-Storyboard version of the lyrics.

]

1.

¡!Oh, NO! Esto no puede suceder.
]

2.

]

3.

]

4.

"Shadow over Innsmouth", por Howard Phillips Lovecraft

Babel did not seem to translate the last part of the quote for Shadow over Innsmout, the part about in wornder and glory forever. I took a best guess at that one.

Personal Notes: The Pres Sez Jan 2005

It's that time of the month again. No, I did not have a sex and name change, I am the president of the local computer users group, Northwest Amiga Group. We publish a monthly journal on the activties about the group and the amiga community for our members. As president I end up writing the Prez Sez article, sort of like the Editor's Page, where I write about meetings and such. It has been kind of hard to do this with not much happening, still no stable Amiga Ones available, so I mainly write about group stuff and what I am working on, which is why I started this project originaly.

This month, I wrote about using Babel, world.altavist.com to translate text. I used a part of the lyrics and had Babel translate it for me, from English to Spanish. It is kind of spooky, even profound (Deep Ones - Los Profondos?), reading something that you wrote that has been translated to a different language. Did I really write this? I will post the results soon.

The web site for the Northwest Amiga Group is at www.nwamiga.net . We have an archive online of our journal at the site.

Production Notes: Pre-Storyboard

I started working on this thing about a year ago, did not get very far on it because of a bunch of things: health, work, no stable computers. I did manage at one point to do a rough stroryboard using Print Master and that was as far as I got. The lyrics were way to short and did not tell the complete story.

This time around, I doubled the lenght of the verses so that the story does not rely to heavly on narration. I also will be using HTLM, instead of a proprietary program, to do the revised storyboard. I can then add links to completed sections of the project as they get done.

Deep Ones(Pre-Storyboard Version)

Lyrics byDavid Reichen

Based on "Shadow over Innsmouth", by H P Lovecraft

Production Notes:
The song is basically "Superbeast", by Rob Zombie, with some re-arragments.
The first part of the chorus line, the one that starts with "the ragged they come" is repeated twice. The first time it is actually part of the verse. It is part of the chorus on the second time. There is also an extra ending verse that refers back to the story.

[
Introduction:
There are things that are best left unknown. Had I paid attention to such a statement I would have been able to live a long and boring life; however, I have been cursed with curiosity. Herein is my tale of what transpired that lonely night so long ago, which to this very day I am still filled with dread at its mere recollection.
]

1.
Shrieking through jagged teeth, the voices call out while you dream.Foretelling of things to be, you wake up with a tortured scream.

All your life you feel drawn to a place you've never been before.When you get there you can see shapes rising up from the shore.

Chorus
Luring you down to the sea, the sirens sing so longingly.
Luring you down to the sea, down with the deep ones you will be.

Dagon! Is the one that we follow.
Dagon! Unleash the Beast.
Dagon! Is the one that we follow.
Dagon! Unleash the Beast.

[
At the Shore:
As the shapes came closer and closer, I began to understand what they have been calling out to me all along, "IA, IA, Cthulhu fhtagn!!"
Oh, NO! This can not be happening.
]

2.
Reaching out, they grab your wrists. Trigger changes held dormant.No More Humanity! Your mind is cleared of torment.

Changes made, glued back again, strands rip apart and recoil.You feel so lame, in such pain, it's like your blood has come to a boil.

Chorus

[
The Change:
There I lay, on that muddy shore, wreathing in utter pain. They enclosed me in what I can only describe as a body bag. They then dragged me slowly, so slowly, beneath the waves.
]

3.
Kiss your old life goodbye. Your life begins anew.Dive into the ocean blue, land no longer has a hold on you.

Flee the land return to the sea, escape reality's nightmare.Far from shore, you can be free, come join us down in our lair.

Chorus

[
At Dawn:
The next morning, no trace could be found of what had happen that night, everything washed away by the tide. It was presumed that I died, lost at sea, drowned and dead, never to be seen by mere mortal eyes again.
]

4.
Burn the town, bomb the reef, we don't need that kind of grief.Don't resist, can't you see, you'll be getting no relief.

They say we're weak and we're meek, it's all just one big lie.When global warming comes again we'll watch the land sizzle and fry.

Chorus

[
Epilog:
We shall swim out to that brooding reef in the sea and dive down through black abysses to Cyclopean and many columned Y'ha-nthlei, and in that lair of the Deep Ones we shall dwell amidst wonder and glory forever.
